31st December 2014

Ipswich Borough Council is holding a number of public exhibitions during January 2015, which concern the Northern Fringe, and we would encourage you to attend and make you views known. Dates and times are as shown below. This forms part of a public consultation that closes on 5th March 2015 see Notice of Consultation. We will be issuing a simple tick sheet in mid February 2015 to help people with their representations and will also be submitting a detailed representation on behalf of our members and others who have asked us to represent them.

Dates and times of exhibitions:

      Town Hall, Pickwick Room:
          Tuesday 20th January (11am 4pm)
          Wednesday 21st January (11am 4pm)
      Ipswich Sports Club, Henley Road:
          Friday 23rd January (11am 4pm)
          Saturday 24th January (11am 4pm)
      The Meeting Place, Limerick Close:
          Wednesday 11th February (3pm 8pm)
All Hallows Church Hall, Landseer Road:
          Thursday 12th February (3pm 8pm)
      Colchester Road Baptist Church:
          Friday 13th February (3pm 8pm)
St Peters Church, Stoke Park Drive:
          Tuesday 17th February (3pm 8pm)
      Town Hall, Pickwick Room:
          Friday 20th February (11am 4pm)
          Saturday 21st February (11am 4pm)

The consultation concerns the following 2 proposed key documents together with their Strategic Environmental Assessments and Sustainability Appraisals:

  • Revised Core Strategy & Policies Development Plan Document and
  • Site Allocations & Policies Development Plan Document

These documents can be found on the IBC website by clicking here

The revised Core Strategy intends to allocate the entire Ipswich Northern Fringe for development and allow multi-site development. This is a high-risk strategy that will result in severe traffic congestion not just for the northern fringe but also for the town centre and will damage the future attractiveness and prosperity of the town.
